    Avoiding the perils of pearls is easier than one may realize. Acquainting yourself with the more common dos and don'ts is very helpful in keeping pearls looking fabulously lustrous over the years.  Just as important in pearl care is finding a cleaner that will not harm your pearls, immediately, or over time.  

    If your pearl cleaner warns against soaking pearls in their solution (due to over-exposure to harsh, damaging chemicals), though you are supposed to quickly wipe it on your pearls or spray it on, one has to ask, what is happening when using this cleaner repeatedly, over time?  Is it causing minuscule damage that will eventually become noticeable?
